Change of Gumboro PCR diagnostics from 01 April 2023

As of 1 April, the procedure for our molecular biological Gumborovirus diagnostics will be changed. Please take this into account for future sample submissions and order the desired tests accordingly.

Procedure to date:

1. IBDV screening incl. pathotyping

Contained

IBDV screening PCR,

and subsequent IBDV pathotyping PCR to differentiate between genogroup A3 and "other than A3").

2. IBDV sequencing

Optional.

Partial VP1 and VP2 gene sequencing.

Phylogenetic analysis.

Screening and typing PCR were included in one article. No specific request for typing was required.

From 01 April 2023 we will change the Gumboro PCR diagnostics:

1. IBDV screening PCR

Screening only!

2. IBDV genotyping PCRs

Optional.

For differentiation of the following genogroups:

  1. A1 (classical) (includes detection of most licensed IBDV vaccines (excl. Poulvac® Bursa Plus, Poulvac® Bursa F (both A7) and TAbic® M.B (A3))
  2. A3 (very virulent) (incl. TAbic® M.B. vaccine)
  3. A7 (early Australia) (includes detection of Poulvac® Bursa Plus and Poulvac® Bursa F vaccines)

3. IBDV sequencing

Optional.

Partial VP1 and VP2 gene sequencing.

Phylogenetic analysis.

Explanation:

In the first step, samples are screened as usual using IBDV Screening RT-qPCR. In the second step, these samples can then optionally be further typed with our new specific IBDV genogroups RT-qPCRs. (Similar to our IBV diagnostic procedure).

If subsequent typing of the samples is desired after a screening PCR, this must be ordered in addition to the IBDV screening PCR (you are already familiar with this procedure from our IBV diagnostics).
